What is KWIKTRANS™

 

KWIKTRANS is a new service that GLTaC is preparing to offer our technical translation clients, focused on providing fast translation of patents and technical research papers that are not available in English.

 

If you consider the graph of cost vs. quality in Figure 1 below, you can see that machine translation is fast and relatively inexpensive, but the quality is not as good as a human translation.  But in many cases, the quality may be sufficient for the level of understanding required, and the quicker turnaround time with the lower cost provides value.  There is always the option of the higher cost, higher quality completely human translation available.

 

 

Many factors affect the speed, quality and cost of your translation, but the most critical is the original document format and quality.  The table below (Figure 2.) shows the standard steps involved with various document formats, and as you can see, the more steps we can eliminate, the lower your cost and quicker your turnaround time.
